EXHIBITION: 30.11. - 02.12.2010
The project is now arriving in Berlin!
Opening at Savvy Contemporary on the 30th of November at 7 p.m – 10 p.m
What is a home? What is a home in Kreuzberg, Berlin? What is a home in Tensta, Stockholm? And how do your surroundings and the city you live in affect your identity? Both Tensta and Kreuzberg are areas known for their ethnical and cultural diversity, places where questions of identity and of what is a home are especially relevant and present. Students from Ross Tensta Gymnasium have been working parallel with students from Robert Koch Gymnasium on questions concerning home. How can the concept of home be expressed through contemporary art?
The two groups will work artistically in apartment-like spaces in each others cities. On the 30th of November the students from Tensta will be showing the results of their work at Savvy Contemporary in Berlin. Amongst other things, you will see a tribal wall painting, get to taste home made “dolma” and walk the streets of Tensta through a stop motion animation. This exchange of physical space, the resulting work and workshops, attempt to question our ideas of “home”, “belonging” and “identity”.
In December the students from Robert Koch Gymnasium, Kreuzberg will travel to Sweden to show their work. The opening will take place in Tensta, Stockholm on the 11th.
Tensta/Kreuzberg is implemented under the guidance of the artists Jenny Berntsson and Felice Hapetzeder together with Tensta Konsthall’s pedagogue Hedvig Wiezell. The project is a collaboration between Ross Tensta Gymnasium, Robert Koch Gymnasium and Tensta Konsthall.
