Flying visit with Niq Mhlongo

With Niq Mhlongo, the LCB Berlin starts  Flying Visits: a new series of precisely that – flying visits of their guests and fellows in extraordinary venues of this city. We are honoured to welcome them on there first stop on the flight and looking forward to hosting Niq Mhlongo and you at  SAVVY Contemporary.

Niq Mhlongo, one of the leading members of the young South African literary scene, is at home in Soweto. After having published the novels "Dog Eat Dog" (2004 Ohio University Press) and "After Tears" (2007 Ohio University Press & Swallow Press), »Way Back Home« (2013 Kwela) was his first book to be published in German translation (2015 Wunderhorn Verlag, translated by Gunther Geltinger). Niq is currently a guest author at the LCB in Berlin where he aims at completing his next novel. He will read from this year's short story collection "Soweto, Under The Apricot Tree": A short story collection capturing the vibrancy of the township and surrounds. Told with satirical flair, life and death intertwine in these tales where funerals and the ancestors feature strongly; where cemeteries are places to show off a new car and catch up on gossip.
