To close the Berlin chapter of our collaboration with the project Monumental Shadows by Various & Gould, we invite you to Shadow #4 – an exchange with conversations, poetry readings and music about interdisciplinary experiences and strategies in dealing with colonial heritage.
We will be reflecting on the importance of finding new strategies of demonumentalizing the colonial wounds and traces in our public spaces. Who are these figures set in stone? How can we challenge them? It is about the various ways of dismantling systemic racism – one monument at a time. With this interdisciplinary conversation we surpass "setting things in stone" in by building tender, ephemeral and nevertheless sustainable monuments through words and rhythms.
Let’s knock the colonial figures off their pedestals and charge them with new meanings.
