Artist in Residency 2022
WitH Bobo Leennox
August–October 2022
We are honored to welcome Bobo Leennox in Berlin for a 3 months residency conceived in the framework of the project UNRAVELING THE (UNDER )DEVELOPMENT COMPLEX OR TOWARDS A POST- (UNDER-)DEVELOPMENT INTERDEPENDENCE. The residency follows the first project chapter in Cameroon with the joint event at Bandjoun Station: DE TING WEH E DO CACAO NA E GO DO CAFÉ. ON SOWING AND REAPING, OF HOLISTIC OVERSTANDINGS OF CULTURES.
Linus Ngha Beng Kwokom known under artistic pseudonym Bobo Leennox is a self-taught artist, art educator and cultural promoter based in Bamenda, Cameroon. In 2000 he founded Community Youths Arts Center (COYAC) which aims to empower local youth through artistic practice and address the lack of art education in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. Bobo's artistic practice is deeply embedded in the fabric of the community, being an immediate response for its needs while facing the crisis.
During his residency in Berlin, Bobo Leennox will investigate relationship of interdependence between Cameroon and Germany, immersing himself in diaspora communities of Berlin in order to shape a pluriverse of vision and strategies away from capitalist and industrial productivity and toward transformative conviviality.
The artistic residency is supported by Goethe Institut Kamerun. It is conceived during the Bandjoun Chapter of the project UNRAVELING THE (UNDER-)DEVELOPMENT COMPLEX OR TOWARDS A POST- (UNDER-)DEVELOPMENT INTERDEPENDENCE, funded by the TURN2 Fund of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation). Funded by the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media), and supported by SAVVY friends.
