Curator in Residency 2022
With Mario Alberto Llanos May–July 2022
We are honored to welcome and host Mario Alberto Llanos from May–July 2022 in the SAVVY space.
Mario is a curator and researcher based in Colombia who currently collaborates with us in the framework of our project FOR THE PHOENIX TO FIND ITS FORM IN US. ON RESTITUTION, REHABILITATION, AND REPARATION. He is interested in creating bridges across space and time between the cultures of the Colombian Caribbean and that which was stolen in colonial times. He approaches these bridges by using spiritual vibrations and forms of communication typical of other forms of life.
Mario Alberto Llanos lives and works in Puerto Colombia (Atlántico) as an independent curator and researcher. He is the co-director of the curatorial research program La Usurpadora and the artistic residency program “Centurión de la noche”. Among the exhibitions he has curated are "Bajo el Nivel del Mar" El Parqueadero Museum Miguel Urrutia (MAMU) Bank of the Republic, "Todos los Ausentes" VIII Contemporary Art Biennial SIART La Paz (Bolivia), "Proyectos y Proyecciones con mis Antepasados" Aún 44 National Salon of Artists, Haganlo Mientras sean Jóvenes Pavilion Artecámara Artbo 2017, „Tropical Gothic: Variations of light in other dimensions“ Passerelle Contemporary Art Center (Brest / France), 16th Regional Salon of Artists Caribbean Region and the 45th edition of the National Artists Salon, among others.
