"Our History Books Were Records" is a line from Emicida's poem "Ubuntu Freestyle". It connects us to one of Brazil's most deeply rooted traditions: oralitura – the technology of conceiving and narrating histories through orality.
In this listening session, Ramo shares with us a selection of songs relevant to thinking through the educational practices shared by Paulo Freire, Allan da Rosa, Natasha Kelly, and other educators who connect the making of education with the making of art, where nomadism between these fields of knowledge opens new spaces to read, to walk, and to conspire toward a better world.

A frase de Emicida no poema "Ubuntu Freestyle" nos conecta a uma das tradições mais enraizadas no Brasil: a oralitura. Ou seja, a tecnologia de conceber e narrar histórias pela oralidade.
Nesta atividade, o Artista propõe uma seleção de músicas relevantes para pensar as práticas educativas entre Paulo Freire, Allan da Rosa, Natasha Kelly e outras pessoas educadoras que conectam o fazer educação e o fazer arte, onde o nomadismo entre esse campos do conhecimento cria novos espaços para ler, caminhar e conspirar um mundo melhor.
COLLABORATION This project is part of Fundação Bienal de São Paulo’s travelling exhibitions programme, held since 2011. The travelling exhibitions have become a fundamental extension of the Bienal de São Paulo, enabling the works and debates presented at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion to be reconfigured in dialogue with diverse local contexts, activating new readings and relationships with audiences beyond the main exhibition axis. In its 36th edition, this movement reaches fifteen new territories across Brazil and internationally.
The Berlin Edition of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo will be on view at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) from 12 September to 6 December 2026. The exhibition Not All Travellers Walk Roads—Of Humanity as Practice opens there on 11 September 2026 [more details here].
